These 1/2 wave antennas require no ground plane for operation. This makes them ideal for use with portable or small remote devices with little or no groundplane. They can even be used with products that consist of all plastic chassis or case.
These PSTN Series antennas use full length center fed dipole configuration. Radiated energy is most pronounced along the horizon, with maximum peak of 2.3 dBi, free space. When mounted with the whip close to metal, the energy pattern can become shaped, and result in higher peak gain.
VSWR is typically 2:1 or better over the desired frequency range. These antenna generally operate at specialized frequencies, some bands typically restricted to government or military applications. The dual band model PSTN2-2400/5600 can additionally be used on commercial WiFi systems.
PCB based designs, the antennas are encased in UV resistant black PVC. The antenna radomes are water-proof, however additional sealing of connectors would be required if mounting permanently in an outdoor environment.
